Farm Plan Data Pack

The mapped base your consultant builds a farm plan on, agreed with them and built once. $550 plus GST, once the layers are agreed with your advisor.

Being straight about what this is. It does not make you compliant, and we do not certify anyone. We map and describe the land units and the features, and record where every layer came from. The risk assessment, the critical source areas and the setback calls stay with your advisor or certifier, because that is their professional judgement, not ours.

What is in it

  • Layers agreed with your advisor before we start
  • Land units mapped, measured and described
  • Farm features, waterways and drains as mapped or supplied
  • Slope classes and areas from LINZ 1 m elevation data, reusing any terrain work already done
  • A map atlas PDF and the full dataset
  • A source and methodology note for each layer

What stays with your advisor

  • Risk assessment for each land unit
  • Critical source areas and wetland calls
  • Setback distances, which vary by region and rule
  • Erosion-prone area judgements

Setbacks, wetlands and critical source areas depend on rules and evidence that change by region and over time, and a certifier signs their name to them. We map what the sources support, label what is interpretation, and leave the regulatory judgement where it belongs.

Land Use Capability and soils come from published national datasets. We include them only where the licence for that data allows it in a paid product, and we say on the map when it is a regional-scale indication rather than farm-scale mapping.

Who buys it

Mostly farmers whose bank, processor or audit scheme has asked for something specific, and consultants who would rather buy the spatial layer than build it. If you are already working with a farm environment consultant, ask them which layers they need before we start. That list is what we price against.

Where freshwater farm plans are up to

The rollout was paused in 2024 everywhere except Southland. In August 2026 the Government released decisions for a simpler, risk-based system, with the regulations still to be written. We are not going to guess at the detail. What is clear is that plans are coming back in some form, that fewer farms will need a certified and audited plan, and that more farms will need to prepare and hold one themselves.

Where this pack earns its keep either way is sustainability-linked lending, processor schemes, NZGAP and GLOBALG.A.P. audits, and any situation where a consultant is about to charge you to assemble the same layers at their hourly rate.

Price

Farm Plan Data Pack, on a farm we have mapped$550

$550 plus GST, once your advisor’s list of layers is agreed and confirmed in writing. It builds on a mapped property: if we have not mapped yours, we quote the base mapping with it. Terrain work already done is reused rather than charged again.

Some layers depend on third-party data whose licence we are still confirming, and we will tell you before you pay if one of yours is affected. The judgement calls stay with your advisor, which is why they are not in the price.

Elevation and contours, if you only need terrain$250
Terrain analysis bundle$450
